OK.

I've worked out what causes the issue.

We can only use 4 url links [url] before the error occurs.

It doesn't matter if any images are included, 4 links causes the crash.

This means images should be able to be posted as long as we only post in sets of 3 thumbnails.

This is down to a setting in the hosts configuration in mod_security.

More information in the following links.

So we now know that to fix the problem, we need to get KG to contact the hosting company and to work around it we can only paste 3 thumbnails per post.

Okay, today I seem to be able to post 3 images. When I try for four or five, it breaks and I get the 'don't have permission' page. On preview or submit.

Very odd.

The highest I can get is three. It breaks when I try four.

Sorry, I meant 4 links cause the error. The posts I linked to showing the problem and solution say 4 or more links will cause the error.

I guess one option for now is to post three choice thumbnails then a link to the rest on the hosting site, like Image Venue (see this post). You don't need to use the url tag for that, it makes links clickable automatically.

Damn. The moronic hacking spammers wont leave anyone alone, in their quest to find spamhosts. It's a wonder that anything works.

Hi all,

Many apologies for this issue, and the downtime a little while back. Although the current webhost has proven to be reliable on the whole, there have been a couple of blips. I'm really sorry that I haven't been around to respond to them, but I hope to spend more time on the site in the future.

I've reported the image posting problem to the hosting company and hope that their tech team can amend the security settings to restore the original functionality as soon as possible.

Many thanks to you all for your patience and continued support, and especially to UrMa for doing such a fantastic moderating job in my absence.
