BEWARE of RapidShare account stealing attempts!

Postby KG » Mon Sep 15, 2008 10:31 pm

In the past few days the forums have been the target of a concerted effort to harvest RapidShare account details. The perpetrators have been banned, but they may return.

The moderators here will keep a close eye on new members' posts, but you should be aware that we cannot vet each and every topic before they are online.

To protect yourself, do NOT give out your RapidShare login details to any page that isn't from the RapidShare domain. If a link does not go directly to itself (even if it includes a rapidshare reference elsewhere in the address), do not click it and please report it to either UrMa or me, KG.

If you do click the link by accident, you will not be able to tell that it is a fraud by looking at the download page. It is only by examining the HTML source code that you can spot a fake.

To reiterate, if you are in any doubt, please PM or email UrMa or me and we'll check it out as soon as we can.

Remember, proper RapidShare links look like this:

If you get to the download page and your browser address bar reports something different, let us know. The address must start with '' to be valid. Even if the RapidShare link is somewhere else in the address, it will be bogus. For example, do not follow this sort of link:

Please be vigilant and together we can ensure these forums are safe for all visitors.

The rules have been updated: do not post media from pay-per-click hosts, such as FileSonic and HotFile.
